Vaidic Mandaladi Sankhya Ka Rahasya

I was really astonished, when I saw the number of ‘MANDAL’ (Mandal), ‘KAND’ (Kand), and ‘ADHYAYA’ (Adhyaya) in the scripts of all the 4 Vedas. It becomes evident that God ‘VEDA’ is pointing towards Lord KRISHNA, which is the aim of His description, through this number. The readers very well knwo that though there are a lot of ‘AVTARS’ (Forms, Incarnation) of Lord VISHNU, the chief of them, are 24 in number. Still, only 10 Avtar are important, in view of the idol of worship, by loyal devotion. It appears that the number 10 of MANDAL of RIGVEDA, is parallel to 10 Avtar of Lord Krishna. Not only the Avtar, but even the number of “ ‘Sarga’ and ‘Visarga’ ‘LEELA’” (Acts of creation and destruction), of Lord Krishna, is also 10.

(Rig-veda 2-10-1 / 12-1-9)

The total of 10 Avtar, and 10 Leela comes to 20. This tallies with the number of ‘KAND’ of ‘ATHARVA VEDA’, which also is 20. This fact is well-known to the learners of the doctrine of ‘BHAKTI’ (Devotion).

THREE KINDS OF LEELA :-

The three kinds of Leela, are known as Vastaviki; Vyavhariki, Pratibhasiki. The daily Leela (actions or play) of the Lord in Heaven, along with the friendly crowd of Gopis and Parshad (attending servants.) is “Vastavik Leela”. When Lord Krishna descends down to the Earth, and plays in Vrindavan, with his devotees, and which can be seen and experienced by them, is known as “Vyavhariki Leela”.

Whether the lord Krishna is in Heaven, or on the Earth, or at any other place, the dedicated devotee can feel his presence, in the kingdom of their own feelings of the mind, as a result of meditation (Dhyan), and they can visualise the Leelas of the Lord (even in his absence). This is known as “Pratibhasiki Leela”.

If we multiply 10, which is the number of Dashavtar, of the Lord, by 3, the resulting total is 30, which denotes the number of (Bhagwadleela. By addition of 10 to this figure of 30, the total becomes 40. This number 40, points out towards the number of “Adhyaya” in YAJURVEDA”.

‘SAMVEDA’ marches even two steps further, and declares that the ‘Lord’ is “Purnavatar” (complete Incarnation). SAMVEDA consists of 2 parts, namely Purvarchik and Uttararchik. There are 5 Adhyaya and 6 Prapathak in ‘Purvarchik’.

The “ARANYAK” (Aranyak) is considered as the ‘APPENDIX)’ of ‘PURVARCHIK’, and Mahanagni Archik is a part of it. While considering the number of ‘PRAPATHAK’, this should be taken as the first (1st) PRAPATHAK. Taking into consideration, the number of ADHYAYA, it can be termed as ‘Shashthadhyaya’ (6th one). “UTTARARCHIK” consists of 9 ‘PRAPATHAK”, and 21 ‘ADHYAYA’. On summing up the numbers of PURVARCHIK AND UTTARARCHIK, the total number of PRAPATHAK becomes 16. This figure 16, denotes the “SHODAS - KALA” (Shodas - Kala) of Lord Krishna. (There are 16 digits (Kala) of the Moon). The conclusion is that, through the medium of “SHODAS - KALA”, of Lord Krishna, the SAMVED declares him as “POORNAVATAR”. The sum-total of its ADHYAYA becomes 21.

This number 21 is also worth considering. The Lord possesses 6 ‘GUNAS’ (Gun) like “AISHVARYA”, but the Lord is only 1(one). This figure 1 indicates, the “LORD KRISHNA” together with his six Gunas. Thus, if we add together, 10, the number of AVATAR, and 10, the number of “LEELA”, to this figure 1, the total becomes, (the magic figure) 21, which denotes the number of ADHYAYA of SAMVEDA.
This is referred to in “SHRIMAT - BHAGWAT” (Shrimad Bhagwat).

“Yete Chansh Kalaha Pusaha Krushnastu Bhagwan Swayam |” 1/3/28.

Thus, we can undoubtedly conclude that, Vedas also are equally attached to appreciate the merits of the “Revered Deity”, as the BHAGWAT. Hence, in “GEETA 15-15”, even the Lord was himself compelled, to utter the following words: -

“Vedaishcha Sarve Sahamev Vedhyaha |”

which means - “Only I am the subject, of all the Vedas.”

The following statement also expresses the same intention -

“Sarve Veda Yatpadmamananti” - Kathopanishad 1 - 2 15.

Above all, the Chant “GAYATREE” (Gayatri Mantra) which is the crown of Vedas, also points out to “Prabhuleela” (merits of Lord).

“Tatsaviturvaranyem ........................ Prachodayat” -

Rigved 3 - 62 - 10 / Sam. 1462 / Wa.Ya. 3, 35, 22, 28, 30, 2, 36, 3 /
Tai. Sam. 1 - 5 - 6 - 4 / 4 - 1 - 11 - 1 / Tai. Aa. 1/11/2/

MEANING:- We adore that brilliant Form of Lord Krishna, which guides us to the righteous path, instead of evil path. Brightly shining “SUN”, the Creator of this Universe, had accepted Lord Krishna, as his Son - in - law. (This is supported in “BHAGWAT”, wherein, the marriage of “YAMUNA”, the daughter of “SUN”, with Shri Krishna is described.).

Lord Krishna has destroyed the Demons like ‘NARKASUR’ (Narkasur) and others, just as the fire burns the jungles. Such lustrous “Krishna” is the inspirator of our wisdom. Through the advice in “GEETA”, he directs us from the wrong evil path, to the virtuous path. It becomes evident from this, that not only the Vedas, but even the most respected “VEDMATA GAYATRI” (Gayatri, the mother of Vedas) also describes, the Divine deeds of “Leela Purushottam Shri Krishna”. The proof of the fact, that the principles of Lord Krishna have been described in “GAYATRI”, is available in “BHAGWAT PURAN” (Bhagwat Puran) and is quoted below:-
